Villa Oreastro Studio is the original, renovated stone cottage of 35sqm, offering spacious living / sleeping accommodation with an open stone fireplace. There is an open plan kitchen area and separate toilet / shower room. There is also a small walk-in wardrobe room off this space.
There are two spacious stone terraces available for use: One at the front of the property, and one under the walnut tree behind the house.
The Studio offers a quiet location without being isolated. It is perfect for couples and individual travellers looking for a convenient base for exploring Western Crete.

Holiday Rental Studio: Amenities
Living space
The living space is open-plan to the kitchen, separated by a low wall. Here you can laze on the French daybed, which also doubles as the bed. An open fire provides warmth in cooler months. Other seating includes a built-in stone bench, and a reading chair. For indoor dining, there is a table and two chairs.
Kitchen
The kitchen is compact, but with all the essentials:
- refrigerator with freezer compartment
- gas hob with 2 cooking rings
- electric toaster
- set of pots and pans, casserole dishes
- coffee and tea making equipment
- crockery (plates, bowls, cups & saucers, mugs), drinking glasses and cutlery
- serving dishes & platters
- utensils, storage containers, storage jars
- kitchen basics (including tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, spices)
Sleeping arrangements
We know very well that an uncomfortable bed can spoil a great holiday. Therefore, we have opted for a full king size (5 foot) bed with orthopaedic mattress and the finest luxurious french linen bedding - ensuring a comfortable night's sleep. You have a choice of soft to firm pillows, all from natural materials, also quilts, blankets and throws for every season. You might find yourself lingering in bed just a bit longer than you had intended.
Bedding & Towels
Luxury bedding is provided to suit the climate at the time of your visit. This included French linen bedding, silk / cotton duvet, a selection of natural pillows. Additional pillows, blankets and throws are available to ensure your comfort. We provide luxury peshtemal towels. If you prefer traditional towels, these can be provided.
In the bathroom
We supply shampoo, shower gel and hand-wash liquid, which you are welcome to use. A hair dryer is also available.
Welcome Pack
We like to welcome our guests with a few Cretan essentials. Your exact pack will vary depending on your length of stay. Your pack will typically include olive oil from our own olive grove, honey from our own beehives, eggs from our chickens, fresh bread from a wood oven and more.
We also provide you with your own map of the Apokoronas, identifying the top ten beaches, archaeological sites and places to see.
If you have any special requests, please let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
Access to the house
The studio is attached to the main house, next to the outdoor kitchen and store room. The owners' accommodation is above the studio, and is accessed via a staircase from the terrace at the front of the studio. The studio has its own private entrance, and has its own dedicated parking space.
Garden & Terraces
There are 2 terraces that can be used by occupants, each with a table and chairs. A BBQ grill is available for outdoor cooking.
A covered (and in winter, enclosed) veranda at the front of the house offering very spacious & comfortable outdoor living, including a table & chairs and a sofa.
The terrace to the rear of the property is integrated with the garden and benefits from the shade of a very large walnut tree. Here you will also find an outdoor shower for cooling down.
In addition, quests are also welcome to use the shared seating area at the cactus garden, overlooking the white mountains.
Heating, Air Conditioning & Hot Water
Heating, when required, is provided by a open fire with sufficient capacity to warm the entire studio. The 50cm thick stone walls ensure that the property remains cool in the summer, and cosy in winter.
Hot water is supplied by a solar water heating panel, supplemented by a gas boiler when required. Electricity is supplied by an autonomous photo-voltaic system installed on the roof of the house.
Insect Nets
All windows and doors are equipped with insect nets to ensure maximum fresh air and ventilation, without being troubled by mosquitoes and other insects. Some windows are also fitted with security bars, so can be left open day and night, whether you are in or out.
Laundry
The studio does not have its own washing machine. However, guests are welcome to use the washing machine on site. A washing line is available. An electric iron and ironing board are available for use by guests. Coat hangers are provided in the wardrobe.
Technology
Being a holiday home, we try to ensure that you have the essentials to enjoy your holiday
- 3G Pocket WiFi is available for internet access. This is not unlimited.
- A Bluetooth speaker allows you to listen to music from compatible devices (e.g. smart phone).
- There is no television in the studio.
Safety
For your safety and our peace of mind, the house is equipped with a carbon monoxide and smoke detector. A fire extinguisher, fire blanket and first aid kit are also supplied.
Children
Although the studio is primarily aimed at couples, but we can also accommodate a child. A baby travel cot, booster seat and playpen can be made available, as well as child-friendly dinnerware
Please note, that should you wish to bring a child with you, you do so entirely at your own risk, and you must inform us at the time of booking.
Check-in / Check-out
Check-in is normally from 3pm, and check-out by 11am. However, we are happy to accommodate deviations on these times within reason, should bookings permit.
